The Centre is registered with the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority as licensed to provide specified activities under the following headings: Climbing, Caving, Trekking & Watersports. The Centre is also a member of the Institute for Outdoor Learning.

Our accomodation comprises dormitories for group members, with comfortable separate rooms for staff.

Group facilities include:

  • Lounge with television and video.
  • Games room including pool table.
  • Ample shower and drying facilities.
  • Bed and Breakfast


About The Centre

Our proximity to the C2C cycle route, the Pennine Way and the rivers South Tyne, Wear and Tees, make us ideally placed to cater for cyclists, walkers and canoeists alike. Within a couple of miles of High Plains is Alston, England’s highest market town, with its pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops. High Plains provides an ideal base for an adventurous stay, welcoming outdoor enthusiasts, Alston even has its own outdoor shop.
